Recently I wrote a guest blog for Warren Cass, 'Networking is not a numbers game'. In a reply on Twitter, Roberta Ward summed it up quite neatly, "No, its a people game!".
In the article I wrote about how some people approach networking as a numbers game. Meeting as many different people as possible at different events. Or collecting the maximum number of connections or friends on social networking websites.
The people who really make networking work for them and their business build strong relationships with a smaller number of people. They don't need to go out and meet new people all the time. Their introductions to new people and opportunities come via this group.
Constantly meeting new people all the time leaves no time for relationship building. It's like starting from scratch every time or the Networking equivalent of Groundhog Day!
Good Networking!

Hi Dave,
great topic you covered in your recent post! With all the social media platforms in place, networking is something that can be gotten wrong easily!
Of course, networking is not only about simple numbers. However, a positive correlation between those people who have many friends and contacts (no matter if on- or offline) and the strength of their networks cannot be denied in general. So to build a strong business network, size will matter at some point. How you achieve that, by "meeting as many different people as possible at different events" or by using your existing contacts to be introduced to new people, doesn't really matter in the end, the amount of contacts will eventually grow either way.
Of course this raises the time issue but by applying what I call a "Relationship Contact Schedule" (RCS) where you list the importance of each contact you have and hence the amount of times you should contact this person (weekly, monthly, yearly), even a large quantity of contacts will become manageable.
excellent writer and good advice!

Hi my name is yogesh kumar. I like this blog website. I say thanks to that person who made this

That's a good use of a tweet for once! :) That is all so true. I always prefer that can sustain a conversation and relationship when they see it's worth it than people who run around and just contact as much people as possible in their day or during an event. www.pathwaytoprogress.com top right is the perfect e-book (free) if you do know how to network properly and build links
People is important but numbers is also important suppose you get good person for marketing and you have more than lots products to advertising. Product is home base then number of skilled persons are booming your business. Business Networking is chain by b2b and b2p.
Article is very good.

Yes, marketing, business it counts by numbers but it plays with strategies :)
You have a great point here! It is all about networking! I use a virtual office set up in London to gain networking opportunities with other businesses in UK whilst running my business here in the US. Saves time and saves me money whilst still meeting new companies.
Yeah, the concept of networking in business is really a unique idea and it saves lots of time to meet with people to introduce your business and to sell the product. So it is better to make the team and then spread your product to many peoples.
